Friday thoughts . . .
December and January are often the time when people sit down to figure out what they want their following year to look like. They review what took place in the past year and make plans for the future. They know for sure, that all things being equal, next year will look very much like this year did. Some people live their whole lives with the same year after year with only minor blips on the radar. While others, look at the next year as a really BIG opportunity to live their best year ever!!
Last year I made some pretty significant “changes”. By having the courage to change I learned a lot. I recognized how grateful I am to have beliefs that allow me to be strong as I am, emotionally. I recognized how grateful I am to have a very solid core of people who love and believe in me. Each of you make me a better me. I recognized how much your beliefs affect me – no one succeeds alone. I also recognized that change creates new opportunities. Our mind set to a large extent determines whether we succeed or not. Our beliefs determine our mind set. Many of you have experienced similar experiences with mind set and your own belief structure, whether it has been the ending or beginning of a relationship or a new venture or a holiday. If you believe you will be successful – you usually are.
As I reflect over the past year, affiliating with RE/MAX created change. This year our company reduced significantly in the number of agents, yet we grew in overall production and our per agent production went through the roof! We had months with higher production than we ever had with almost two hundred agents. Our average agent’s production rose significantly. We have streamlined systems with higher success. Less has been more. One of my greatest goals was that we provide more value than any other real estate company both to our agents and from our agents to their clients. Our company will be a magnet for other like minded individuals because we have created a business that resonates with their values. They may or might not have already achieved the success they want, they do have the beliefs and actions that will allow them to succeed. Their success will add to our success. I hear what great things our agents have done to help their clients attain their dream homes or to sell when the process isn’t as smooth as we would wish it could be. Our agents are learning based – they are true professionals – they know what they know and what they don’t and know where to go for help. I am really proud to be part of this office. Our agents create a culture of support for each other. While we enjoy each other’s company we also enjoy many outside interests. The rah rah is inward, not so much outward. Our culture is maturing. We have a very solid, strong core. Each and every one of us counts: agent, staff, management – we are a team.
I created change in my personal world this year – a family vacation in Disneyland, time to garden, more time for family & friends, learning about scrap booking and relearning how to have a full night’s sleep and what it feels like to wake up, naturally. To some, it doesn’t sound like much for me, it is huge. As of December 1st, I’m adding exercise and healthy eating to my choices.
This year, I learned that to live the life you want and deserve - you must first believe you are worth it and deserve it. You must believe you can do it. Finally, and perhaps the most critical step - you must be prepared to take the action necessary to create it.
Your individual success contributes much more than you’d ever imagine to everyone who is close to you. Success is an ongoing process that continues for as long as we pursue our goal. Opportunities occur constantly and we can choose to accept or reject them. Some move us closer to the life we want, some take us further away. Our Beliefs are our guide to deciding which opportunities we will choose. This year will you use powerful unlimited beliefs to choose opportunities for your best year ever? Make 2010 your year – make it your BEST year ever –a 365 day journey! You deserve it, you are worth it and you can do it! Step up and make it happen – we all will grow from it!
